Catalog Description
Students should attend a training program at one of the approved companies/institutions engaged in computer engineering practices. The objective is to gain practical experience in real engineering problems. The student should submit a formal report at the end of the training period. A minimum of 180 hours of supervised training is required.
Prerequisite
Completion of 90 credits hours
Specific Goals for the Course
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Improve their teamwork skills by working as a member in a team to implement a project.
Discover real-life experience of what the computer engineer career is like by participating in an actual computer engineering project that may include identification /solution of a problem or observation of the process of handling some real life field problems. (Student outcomes: 4)
Enhance their both oral and written communication skills by giving formal presentation and writing a project report. (Student outcomes: 3)
Acquire self-learning and self-improvement skills needed for the dynamic nature of the computer field by searching for new information (e.g., on the Internet) about the current software/hardware system in place of training. (Student outcomes: 7)
Use modern engineering tools (e.g., new software, documentation tools, presentation, etc.) in presenting their project related work.
Recognize their role in the organization they work for by complying with the ethics of the job and showing adequate site participation, adequate attendance, and adequate self-motivation. (Student outcomes: 4)
Topics to Be Covered
Each training arrangement is unique in terms of its computer engineering materials. The student should participate in an actual project (preferable one) in the training place. The ideal situation is when the student joins a team to implement a complete project.
