Specific Goals for the Course
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze the basic issues of wireless and mobile communications. (Student outcomes: 1)
- Compute the capacity of a mobile network based on given frequency. (Student outcomes: 1)
- Choose a suitable standard for a given wireless LAN based on given specifications. (Student outcomes: 1)
- Use analytic or simulation techniques to evaluate a wireless or mobile network. (Student outcomes: 2)
- Work in a team to deliver a working prototype of mobile or wireless components or system. (Student outcomes: 5)
- Document their work in a written report including presentation. (Student outcomes: 3)
- Demonstrate the main characteristics of mobile IP and explain how it differs from IP with regard to mobility management and location management. (Student outcomes: 1)
- Explain the special problems of wireless and mobile computing. (Student outcomes: 4)
- Illustrate how email and other traffic is routed using mobile IP.
- Use software packages that support mobile and wireless computing.
