Opening of the Internet of Things Laboratory (IoT)
The College of Engineering and Petroleum at Kuwait University inaugurated the Internet of Things laboratory in the Department of Computer Engineering and launched a series of training workshops lasting for two months, in collaboration with Siemens, which funded the laboratory through the Offset Program running from November 11 to December 16, 2025, under the supervision of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority.
The opening was attended by a delegation from Siemens, including Farah Al-Sheikh, Business Development Manager and Manager of Electrical Automation Solutions, Patrick Kobart, Cloud Solutions Engineer at Siemens Software, Abbas Jumaa, Electrical Automation Projects Manager, and Ahmed Al-Shaoush, Industrial Control Systems Solutions Manager.
From the Computer Engineering Department, the attendees included the Head of the Department, Professor Saed Abdul, and the laboratory supervisor, Dr. Mohammad Khattar Awad, Associate Professor and Director of the Master’s Program, along with a number of professors, engineers, and students.
The workshops provide the latest technical skills necessary to empower young computer engineers to compete strongly in the local and global job market in the field of factory programming, as many factories and companies rely on these technologies in their operations to maximize productivity and enhance efficiency.
