CENTER OF ENGINEERING LABORATORIES FOR TESTING AND CALIBRATION

The role of the College of Engineering & Petroleum at Kuwait University is not limited to teaching and scientific research, it extends to serving the local community and participating in its development and prosperity.

In this respect, the Center of Engineering Laboratories for Testing and Calibration (CELTC) is considered one of the main venues through which the College serves its community. Being the largest engineering testing and calibration center in Kuwait, CELTC houses a variety of engineering laboratories that serve government, private, and gas and oil companies.

CELTC has labs in different engineering areas. For civil engineering and construction, there are soil and environmental laboratories; in mechanical engineering there are labs for energy, materials and minerals, air conditioning and corrosion; and for electrical engineering, CELTC has the largest electronic calibration center in Kuwait. Additionally, CELTC has labs for petroleum engineering that include fluids & cement, and properties of the rock reservoirs; also, for chemical engineering there are labs for water, Technology and Membrane Research Center, the development of membranes and polymers, and the physical and analytical chemistry. Finally, for industrial engineering, there are labs for planning and design of facilities, systems engineering work, decision-making, and quality control.

Currently, CELTC is certified to ISO9001 quality management system and is diligently working to accredit to ISO17025.

The CELTC has more than 200 specialized consultants and highly qualified trainers along with more than 300 engineers and technicians. CELTC participates in many engineering activities that require consorted efforts from the government and private sector to solve scientific problems and to ensure and improve the quality of construction work.
